Rules and Regulations for Frisbee (1) Teams Maximum of 5 players per team on the court: - 4 outfield players - 1 goalkeeper - plus 2 substitute players (the referee must be informed before any changes is made) (2) Duration of Matches - Two halves of 10 minutes each plus one minute interval in between each half. (3) Start - Each team will be in the opposite area as they are supposed to score. - All 5 players can participate in the game. (4) During the game - Whenever the Frisbee drops onto the ground, the opposing team will restart the play. - The Frisbee can be intercepted by the opposing team while it is flying in the air. (5) Scoring - The team which is scoring can only have 1 player across the line to receive the Frisbee. - If there is more than 1 player across the line preparing to receive the Frisbee, the goal will not be disallowed and the opposing team will restart play from the line. (6) Fouls - No one is allowed to have control of the Frisbee for more than 5seconds. Should this rule be breached, the Frisbee will be given to the opposing team. - No physical contact such as rough tackle, pushing, shoving or tripping is allowed. Should such offences occur during a match, the player will be given a warning by the referee and should it occur again, the player will be suspended from the match. In the event of a foul or unfair play the referee may judge as follows: Blue card (two minutes time exclusion): For foul play a player will be excluded from the match for two minutes during which time the team has to play with one less player. A player given a blue card will be sent off for two minutes and not allowed back on. After two minutes have elapsed the player given the blue card will be replaced by another player from the team. Red card (match penalty): for serious foul play a player is excluded from the rest of the match. The team has to play with one less player for the remainder of the match. A red card will only be given for serious foul play, violent conduct or abuse of the referee. The player will be sent off immediately and not be allowed back during the game. No replacement player will be allowed on. The player will be suspended for his team’s next game. - Exclusion from the tournament for a team: If rules are seriously breached (heavy foul play, foul play on purpose, unacceptable behaviour on the court towards the referees, the audience or other players), one player or a team can be excluded from the tournament. If a whole team is excluded from the tournament then all the matches played or scheduled to be played by that team will be awarded to the opposition with a 0:3 score line (7) Tournament Format The tournament starts with the Group Stages and will proceed to the Knockout Stage after each team has played against all other teams in the same group. Each group will consist of 5 teams and there will be a total of 2 groups in the competition. The winner and runner-up in each group will move on to the Knockout Stage. All other teams will be eliminated from the competition. In the Knockout Stage, the winner in the group will play against the runner-up of the other group. This match will be known as a ‘Semi-Finals’ match. The winner of both ‘Semi-Finals’ match will compete against each other in the ‘Finals’ and the winner if that match will be crowned champions. (8) Points System A goal is scored when only a player from the team stands over the line to catch the Frisbee. If more than one player stands over the line, the goal is not considered. Team with the higher number of goals after the match duration wins the match. The winning team receives 3 points. The losing team zero. If a match ends in a draw, both teams receive 1 point each. At the end of the Group Stages, the team with the highest number of points will win the group. In the event of a tie, the team with the better goal difference shall be the winner. (9) Referees Each match will have three referees. Referees control each match and have the full authority to enforce the Laws of the Game. Two referees will be positioned at either end of the playing court. These two referees will also act as score keepers and time keepers. The senior referee will be free to move around as he or she sees fit. |
